U.S. Army Ret. Ssg,Horace L. Blankenship

U.S. Army Ret. SSG, Horace L. Blankenship, 83, of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening, June 30, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, AL. 

Mr. Blankenship was born April 27, 1935 in Elmore City, OK, son of the late Elisha Lee Blankenship and Marie Tarrant Blankenship.  He retired from the United States Army with over 20 years of service.  During his tenure with the Army he served in Vietnam, as well as several other duty locations.  After retiring from the military, he spent his time serving the Lord.  Mr. Blankenship was a member of Ladonia Baptist Church. 

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, A. C. Blankenship, Joe Paul Blankenship and Harold Ray Blankenship.

Mr. Blankenship is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hagler Blankenship of Phenix City, AL; a daughter, Sarah Blankenship Johnson of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Yvonne Musslewhite and Glenda Blackwood, both of OK; two brothers, LaDon Blankenship of OK and Michael (Mike) Blankenship of TX; many extended family and friends.
