U.S. Army SFC (ret) William Hurley Dollar, 75, of Columbus, GA passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday, September 20, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. David Dollar and Rev. Kirby Dollar officiating. The internment with full military honors will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mr. Dollar was born on October 25, 1945, in Columbus, GA, son of the late William O. C. Dollar and Eunice Brown Dollar. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired with over 20 years of service. Mr. Dollar was a long time member of the Midland Masonic Lodge Post # 144 and also Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a Godly man, who enjoyed reading his Bible, as well as bowling. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Simmons and Betty Stone; two brothers, Richie Dollar, Sr. and Donnie Dollar.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy S. Dollar of Cinnaminson, NJ and Helen J. Dollar-Maples and husband Ronald of Westminster, MD; two grandchildren, Braedan Christian Maples and Minnette Jordyn Maples; several nieces, nephews and extended family, as well as caring friends.
