US Army SFC (ret) Steven Wade Penix, 57, of Ft. Mitchell, AL passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm est Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL, with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
SFC Penix was born September 5, 1963 in Biloxi, MS, son of Margaret Harris Barshaw and the late Travis J. Penix. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired after 21 years of service. SFC Penix was a sniper instructor at Ft. Benning and member of the Sniper’s Association. He enjoyed shooting and making knives. SFC Penix was Episcopal by faith.
Other than his mother, SFC Penix is survived by his loving wife, Karen McAllister Penix of Ft. Mitchell, AL; daughters, Christina Hsia and husband Tommy of Columbus, GA and Elizabeth Smith and husband James of Ponnotoc, MS; a brother, Jack Penix of Tupelo, MS; extended family and friends.
