Vera Ann Ogletree Adams Wentzell, 79, of Pittsview, AL died at her home on Friday, July 09, 2021 with her family close by her.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM (EST) on Monday, July 12, 2021 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. A private interment will be held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Cottonton, AL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ms. Wentzell was born February 04, 1942 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late George Dennis “Jack” Ogletree and Mary Margarete Boswell Ogletree. She had retired from Chloride Battery after 30 years of committed service. Ms. Vera enjoyed working in her yard, growing beautiful flowers for all to admire. Our mother lived out her life as an example of love, hard work and commitment to her family. We will miss her, but she has instilled in us values that will continue to guide us in our lives.
Ms. Wentzell was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Pitts Ogletree and Louie Ogletree, a granddaughter, Lacey Nicole Penson and a great-granddaughter, Lauren Kite.
Survivors include her four children, Skeet Adams (Jackie), Cottonton, AL, Kay Adams (Dennis), Columbus, GA, Barbara Birge (Edwin), LaGrange, GA and James Allen Custer, Rivertown, WY; two sisters, Barbara Jean Melton (Huff), and Mary Greer (Harold) all of Phenix City, AL; four grandchildren, Brad Adams, Jamie Adams, Kim McNabb and Jeremy Kite; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Adams, Nolin Adams, Jackson Kite, Beckett Kite, Cade McNabb and Scarlett McNabb; numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
