Virginia G. Nelson

Virginia G. Arrington Nelson, 75, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in the comfort of her home.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held 6:00 pm EDT Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Golden Acres Assembly of God Church.  The family will receive friends at the memorial service.

Mrs. Nelson was born September 27, 1940 in Columbus, GA to the late Dothan F. Arrington and Audrey Holland Danford.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whom was deeply devoted to her family.  She had served as an EMT and volunteer fire fighter for the Seale Volunteer Fire Department and also served as a former board member of the Seale Volunteer Fire Department.  She was talented as a cake decorator, and enjoyed many-many ocean cruises with her loving husband.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, John E. Nelson, and James W. Nelson, and one granddaughter, Amanda Borden.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, James A Nelson, children, Carlene E. Kemp, Donald F. Nelson and wife Leela, and Tammy L. Barnwell, sister, Ruby Faye Thomas, grandchildren, John Shane Nelson, Brandon James Nelson, Tiffanie A. Bullard (Albert), Timothy Scott Dodson, Chris J. Nelson, Michelle L. Nelson, John Kevin Hughes, Jr. (Haley), and Hailee E. Barnwell, (6) great grandchildren, numerous other loving family members and many caring friends.
