Virginia “Ginger” Kite Hammond, 58, of Cottonton, AL passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held at 11:00 am EDT on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Mike Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.
Ginger was born January 1, 1959 in Columbus, GA to the late Ephriam Silas Kite and Lillie “Nell” Reaves Kite. She was the owner/operator of Hammond Cleaning Service. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister who loved her family deeply, and was a lady of great character. She enjoyed the outdoors, flower gardening, and had a passion for the love of animals, especially her pet dogs. She was a member of Cottonton Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John “Jay” Hutchen Hammond, Jr. of Cottonton, AL, son, John Hutchen Hammond, III and his fiancé Michelle Zingapan of Cottonton, AL, two sisters, Kaye Kite Land and husband Jeff of Smiths Station, AL, and Carole Kite Woodall and husband John of Hartzselle, AL; nieces and nephews, Beth Woodall Cooper (Randall), Mark Woodall (Karen), Bryant Woodall, Lindsey Land Rivera (Robert), Ashleigh Land, and Will Land (Whitley), numerous other nieces, and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
