Vivian Thomas

Vivian Thomas, passed away December 22, 2017. Vivian was loved by many and loved many things, but her life can be summed up by this: Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such, there is no law.” Those who knew her, either by kinship or friendship, saw those fruits lived daily in her life: 

Vivian was born on January 25, 1929 in Pike County, AL to Ruben and Lula Mae. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Ella Mae, Jewel, Lillian, Mildred and Earl.

In her early years she worked as a seamstress at AlaTex in Pike County, AL.  Vivian met and married the love of her life, Henry Thomas, Jr,. Married for 57 years, Vivian concentrated on dedicating herself to family life. A woman of faith and the heart of the Thomas family, Vivian shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many.

She was a member of Auburn Heights Baptist Church in Phenix City, Al.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Henry. She is survived by her daughters, Marlene (Lavon), Diann (Marvin), Cheryl (Gabriele); grandchildren Mandy (Shane), Amy (Lee), Leslie (Daniel) and Brandon (April); great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Luke, Tinsley, Bryson, Austin and Alivia.

Her Celebration of Life service will be at 2 p.m. on December 23, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, AL with Dr. Wayne Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Auburn Heights Baptist Church.
