Walter “Rudy” Boutwell

Walter “Rudy” Boutwell, Jr. age 59, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 3800 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Monday, April 12, 2021, 10 a.m. (EST) with Reverend Rodney Mitchell officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 2-4 p.m.
Mr. Boutwell, son of the late Walter Harold Boutwell, Sr. and Virginia Ann McKenzie Boutwell, was born August 2, 1961 in Columbus, Georgia. He served as Captain with the Phenix City Fire Department for over 15 years, and then went to work for 84 Lumber Company and later Builder’s First Source where he faithfully worked for many years. Mr. Boutwell attended First Evangelistic Church of Phenix City. He was a man who worked hard his entire life. Many family and friends would often find Mr. Boutwell working on a project in his shop, whether it was dirt bike tune ups and repairs, automobile repairs, or simply working on a special project. He spent many hours dirt track racing and following flat track racing (AMA Association). Mr. Boutwell was a NASCAR fan; enjoyed fishing; listening to classic country music; and watching old classic television shows. The family remembers him as a man who would always help someone else first, providing any available resources he would have to help someone in need; a likeable man who enjoyed telling a joke to someone.
He is survived by two sons, Andrew Boutwell and his wife Brandi of Seale, Alabama and Arye Boutwell of Clarksville, Tennessee; one sister, Kaisey Balsters and her husband Troy of Lynn Haven, Florida; one brother, Cole Boutwell and his wife Dani of DeGraff, Ohio; one granddaughter, Chambley Boutwell; nieces; nephews; many other relatives and friends.
