Wanda Lee Johnston Yates, 87, of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday evening, February 24, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance memorial Chapel in Phenix City. The family will have a private interment at a near future date.
Mrs. Yates was born March 11, 1929 in Maynard, Ark. to the late Roy Johnston and Oletra Johnston. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whom loved her family deeply. She enjoyed outdoor yard activities, working on various projects, and spending quality time with family, and especially her grandchildren. She was a Christian by faith and loved playing the piano in church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Bruce Dewitt Blackmon, and James M. Yates, step-mother, Sally Johnston, and a grandson, Kenneth James Farless.
She is survived by her daughter, Reva Blackmon Grant and husband Felton of Phenix City, AL, three step-daughters, Brenda Tillman and husband Butch of Columbus, GA, Linda Gordon and husband Robert of LaFayette, GA, and Judy Chambers and husband Larry of Galax, VA; one grandson, Kevin Farless, and a host of other loving step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
