Wanita "Jenie" Meade

Wanita J. “Jenie” Meade, 71, of Fort Mitchell, AL passed away peacefully Monday morning, July 30, 2018 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm EDT on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Vance Memorial Chapel (Vance Brooks Funeral Home) in Phenix City with Chaplain Daniel Mitchell officiating.  Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm EDT prior to the service at the funeral home.  Serving as pallbearers are William Meade Jr., Timmy Meade, Justin Meade, Christopher Meade, Errol Kama, and Christobal Canalas.

Mrs. Meade was born June 21, 1947 in Kankakee, IL to the late M. Taylor and Anna Mock.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who deeply loved her family.  She enjoyed collecting various keepsakes and M & M’s collectables, and spending quality time with all her family.  She was a Lutheran by faith.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Taylor.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, William A. Meade of Fort Mitchell, AL, two sons, Timmy Meade of Seale, AL, and William Meade, Jr. and wife Leslie of Georgetown, GA; (3) grandchildren, Christopher Meade (Amanda Jo), Justin Meade (Alesha Graham), and Amanda Meade (Trevor Elliott), (7) great grandchildren, Brayden, McKenzie, Rylee, Emerie, Lily, Anna, and Adelaide, numerous other extended family members, and many caring friends.
