Wayne C. Lewis

Wayne C. Lewis, 78, of Smiths Station, AL died at Columbus Hospice House, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Friday, August 30, 2024 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Randy de Brabant officiating. A private interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at the funeral home on Friday.

Mr. Lewis was born June 22, 1946 in Phenix City, AL son of the late Hughie Mason Lewis and Addie Frances “Peggy” McKissick Lewis. He was an electrician by trade working with the IBEW Local 779 as the Business Manager. Mr. Lewis was also the owner of the End Zone Bar before it closed. He was an avid Alabama Football fan who looked forward to fall and football season. Mr. Lewis was also a pretty good golfer who enjoyed playing with family and friends. Many may not know, but he was also an animal lover. His boxers were his constant companions and friends. 

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Hughie and Peggy Lewis; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry H. Lewis, Sr. (Linda H.) and Thomas Joseph “Tommy” Lewis; and a nephew, Joseph Paul “Joe” Lewis.

Survivors include his four nephews, Jeffrey “Jeff” Lewis (Amy), AZ, Larry H. Lewis, Jr. (Amanda) MS, Tommy Lewis and Michael Lewis; best friend, Duane Peacock, GA; three great-nephews, Zakary Lewis, Parker Lewis and Nicholas Lee (Kambree); one great-great niece, Audrey Lee; many other friends.
