William "Bill" Edwin Messer

William “Bill” Messer, 60, of Opelika, AL passed away, Sunday, August 9, 2015 in Opelika, AL.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM EDT, Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 EDT. Burial will be 11:00 AM EDT, Friday, August 14, 2015 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.

Bill was born October 6, 1954 in Opelika, AL to Priscilla Jo Messer Hale and the late Richard L. Messer, Jr. He proudly served in the US Marine Corp before retiring with over 22 years of service.

Other than his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Richard L. and Daisy Lee Messer, Sr. and Roy and Lillian Hollingsworth, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Peni Messer; daughters, Jill Messer and Allison Messer O’Neil (Justin); grandchildren, Cheyenne and Luke; siblings, Richard S. Messer, Marcia Brown (Tommy), Melvin “Buddy” Messer (Lori), Mike Adams (Melissa), Sherrie Holt (Dwaine), Ernie Messer (Shawna), Kip Messer (Leann) and Damon Messer (Myra); many nieces, nephews other extended family and friends.
