William Gerald Coe, 76, of Smiths Station, AL died at Piedmont Northside, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, August 07, 2024.

Graveside Services with U. S. Navy Honor will be held at 12:30PM (EST) on Monday, August 12, 2024 in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.

Mr. Coe was born January 28, 1948 in Americus, GA son of the late William Jackson Coe, Jr. and Minnie Lee Morgan Spear. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He had retired from PST as a long-haul driver. Mr. Coe loved the open road and all the different places he was able to visit. In his down time, he loved to fish. While out fishing he enjoyed bird watching and feeding the ducks. Mr. Coe also found his quite place at the beach. A day at the beach with his family was a great day for him. Watching old westerns and listening to county music was another favorite past time.

We will remember that he was sometime ornery, but always fun and loving. He loved to joke with folks and enjoyed a good practical joke. We will always cherish the good times in our hearts.

Mr. Coe was preceded in death by his parents, William Coe, Jr. and Minnie Spear; his wife, Jean Carol Shepard Coe and two sisters, Toleda Nolan Long and Joan Delores Copeland; and a grandson, Adam Odell Daniels.

Survivors include his four sons, Timothy Frank Coe, Rock Island, IL, Brian Lee Coe, Smiths Station, AL, James O’Dell Daniels, Paris, TX and Matthew James Shepard, Smiths Station, AL; sister, Nannie Eulalah Holbrooks; granddaughter, Shelby Daniels; a special niece, Amber and Billy McConnell; three special great-nieces, Abbigail, Allison, Annabelle (“PeeWee/WeeWee/Rough Rider”) McConnell, who was his main caregiver up until the end; special great-nephew, Jonah Lytton; several other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
