William Fowler

William F. Fowler, age 74, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, Alabama. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, 11 a.m. with Reverend Jonathan Pike and Reverend Derrick Millirons officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 5-7 p.m.
Mr. Fowler, son of the late William Robert Fowler and Sudie Mae Mancil Fowler, was born October 15, 1946 in Columbus, Georgia. He was a retired plant manager and longtime member of Woodland Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Mr. Fowler was a hardworking man, he loved God, his church, and his family. He was an avid deer hunter, and always looked forward to preparing the hunting sites for the upcoming season. Mr. Fowler was a good steward in many ways, to include numerous hours towards the upkeep of the church grounds. He enjoyed time at home, cutting his yard, reading, and watching college football – particularly Auburn Tiger football. Even in his senior years, he dedicated many hours as a student at Faith Bible Institute.
The family remembers him as being a child of God, loving husband, devoted father and grandfather.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gayle Baker Fowler. Mr. Fowler is survived by two daughters, Malynda Millirons and her husband Derrick of Seale, Alabama and Tammy Canington and her husband Patrick of Phenix City, Alabama; one son, Jeff Fowler of Warner Robins, Georgia; three grandchildren, Kallie Blackshear and her husband Wil of Opelika, Alabama, Blane Millirons of Seale, Alabama, and Baylee Hauenstein and her husband James of Fort Benning, Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Connor Griffith, Levi Blackshear, and Bryson Hauenstein; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Flowers are accepted or contributions can be made in his honor to Woodland Baptist Church, 114 Bayview Drive, Phenix City, Alabama 36869 or Mercy Baptist Church, P.O. Box 190, Seale, Alabama 36875.
