William “Bill” Preston Landreau, 71, of Smiths Station, AL died peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 20, 2023 surrounded by his family while under the care of Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at with Rev. Mitch Watts officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. A private interment will follow in Hatchechbbee Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at funeral home.
Mr. Landreau was born January 5, 1952 in Union Springs, AL son of the late Preston Landreau and Imogene Gentry Landreau. He had retired from the Russell County Sheriffs Office as Lieutenant and Jail Administrator after 20 years of service. He was also the past President of the Alabama Jail Association. In 1998 he joined the Muscogee County Sheriffs Office as a deputy, assigned to the Jail and Courts. He retired again after 18 years of service. Mr. Bill also worked parttime from 1996 – 2022 as an Agent and Life Licensing Instructor for Primerica Life.
Mr. Bill was also a vital part of the high school baseball community. He helped to coach the first Dixie Majors Baseball team in 1982 that won the National Championship that year. Mr. Bill also Umpired with the Alabama High School Athletic Association for 15 years.
Mr. Landreau was preceded in death by his parents, Pretson and Imogene Landreau.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Pamela Cloud Landreau, Smiths Station, AL; one sister, Susan Landreau, Hatchechubbee, AL; one brother, Buster Landreau (Jean), Hiawassee, GA; two brothers-in-law, Rickey Cloud and Jerry Cloud; one sister-in-law, Debra Graham (Ronnie); special nephew, Lucas Howard; other nieces and nephews, Kelly Boyd, Rebecca Kirk, Matt Landreau, Matthew Cloud, Cody Cloud, Ethan Cloud; nine great nieces and nephews; numerous friends.
