William Marvin Mercer

William Marvin Mercer, 70, of Columbus, GA passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his residence in Columbus, GA.  A funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 beginning at 11:30 A.M. EST with the Reverend Hank Reeves officiating.  The interment will conclude the service at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 10:30 A.M. EST.  

Mr. Mercer was born December 6, 1945 in Brunswick, GA to the late Roy and Joan Mercer.  He was a member of the American Legion, Post #35 on North Lumpkin Road.  He was a United States Veteran.  He served his country proudly in the United States Army.  He served in the Vietnam War and was a Combat Engineer.  His occupation was a Truck Driver and he retired from Civil Service. 

Other than his parents, Mr. Mercer is predeceased by two sons:  William Mercer, Jr. and an infant son; one infant daughter; as well as a brother and a sister.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kristy Michelle Mercer; his Uncle, James Davidson; best friend and cousin, Margaret Davidson; several other cousins; and his pet Fur Babies:  Vicki, Barney, Lady, Lucy, Hank and Roxie.
