William Edward Rabon, MSG (Ret.), 87, of Tuscaloosa, AL passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his residence in Tuscaloosa. A graveside service will be held at Parkhill Cemetery on Thursday, June 29, 2017 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST with Pastor Kennith H. Savage officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST.
Mr. Rabon was born July 31, 1929 in Blountstown, FL to the late James F. Rabon and Mary M. Speare Rabon. He was a member of member of the VFW Post 5797 in Phenix City, AL as well as the American Legion. He served his country proudly and retired as a veteran of the United States Army. He served in both, the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Upon retiring from the military, he worked as an insurance adjustor and retired from the Moore Insurance Adjusting Group in Atlanta.
Other than his parents, Mr. Rabon is predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy Newton Rabon; two daughters, Deborah K. Brannon and Kathy J. Rabon; a son, Fred F. Rabon; and several siblings.
Survivors include a son, Nathan R. Shavers (Neshia) of Tuscaloosa, AL; eight grandchildren: Kristin Shavers of Smiths Station, AL, Shelby Shavers, Natalie Shavers and Nathan Shavers all of Tuscaloosa, AL, Candice Rabon, Brandy Robinson, Stevie Robinson and Larry Robinson, all of Columbus, GA; as well as several great grandchildren.
