William Ralph Phillips

William Ralph Phillips, 89, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm EDT on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Lakewood Baptist Church in Phenix City with Reverends Charles Keown and M.R. Hamilton and Dr. Jerry Horner officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm EDT at the church. Vance Memorial Chapel is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Phillips was born June 2, 1929 in Marvyn, AL to the late Melvin Ralph Phillips and Lattie Louise Wade Phillips Helms. He served in the United States Navy and later retired from the City of Columbus as a Senior Electrical Inspector. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Lakewood Alleluia and Amen Choirs, served on Board of Directors for Ladonia Volunteer Fire Department, RCE A, Volunteer and Events Security at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, taught at Columbus Technical College and Phenix Vocational Technical School, and was involved in numerous mission’s projects. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Phillips.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Patricia “Pat” Wynn Phillips; 2 sons, Roland “Scott” Tindell, wife Janet, of Rocky Face, GA and “Jason” Edgar Tindell, wife Jennifer, of Phenix City; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Tindell Cantrell, Andrew Scott Tindell wife Jessica, Sarah Elizabeth Tindell, Jason Emory Tindell and Isabella Maritza Tindell; 4 great-grandchildren, Shane Trenton, Linkin Cantrell, Macyn Cantrell and Kali Tindell; numerous extended family members, church family, and many caring friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions Be made to Columbus Hospice, Preferred Care Hospice, or Builders for Christ (through Lakewood Baptist Church).
