Willie Carl Jenkins, 75, of Salem, AL passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015, at his home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am EDT, on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Vance Memorial Chapel with Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow at Crawford Cemetery in Crawford, AL. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm, at the funeral home. Mr. Jenkins was born on March 4, 1940, in Columbus, GA, son of the late Willie Carl Jenkins, Sr. and Christine Baker Jenkins. He graduated from Central High School in Phenix City, Al and later graduated from Auburn University in 1962, with a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Jenkins worked at Kirven's Department Store, Litho Krome, R. C. Cola and finally returned to Litho Krome, where he retired in 2001. He also served as the Coroner of Russell County and owned and operated an ambulance service. Additionally, he was a Fire Chief for the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Mr. Jenkins was still serving on the Board of Directors for the fire department.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by Grandparents, Carrie Belle Baker and Uhland and Emma Jenkins; and a daughter-in-law, Owena Jenkins. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia Eckles Jenkins of Salem, AL; two sons, Charles R. Jenkins and Timothy W. Jenkins and wife Nancy; a beautiful grand-daughter, Paige Ivie Jenkins; Sister-in-Law, Sara Tom Story and spouse Larry; several nieces, nephews and other extended family; the members of the volunteer fire department and caring friends.
