Willie Hanes Griffis

Willie H. Griffis, 94, of Ft. Mitchell, AL passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held 11:00 am Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. 

Mr. Griffis was born in Lawtey, FL February 14, 1924, son of the late Willie E. Griffis and Laura H. Griffis.  He retired as a Command SGT Major from the United States Army.  During his tenure the US Army he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. 

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth B. Griffis and his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by three sons, Bill Griffis and wife Carol of Columbus, GA, Lindsey Griffis of VA and James Dean Griffis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Jamie, Sean, Catherine, Eric, Barbara, Rachel and Richard; several great-grandchildren and extended family.
