Wimberly Clark Moorefield, 85, of Chelsea, AL was called home on Thursday, August 19, 2021 while at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am (CST) on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Liberty Baptist Church, 11050 Chelsea Road, Chelsea, AL 35043 with Pastor Tim Cox officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm (EST) on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, GA with Rev. Alan Kuykendall officiating. Mr. Moorefield was born July 9, 1936 in Columbus, Georgia, son of the late Martin Wimberly Moorefield and Susie Mae Miles Moorefield. He stated this about his parents, “My Mother gave me strength, my Father gave me Wisdom.”
Mr. Moorefield was a Jordan High School graduate, Class of 1954. After high school, he joined the United States Navy and took great pride in serving his country aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Hornet (CV-12). He retired after many successful years from the Birmingham Beverage Company, Birmingham, AL. He enjoyed Georgia football and often celebrated game day with family and friends. Mr. Moorefield was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea, AL where he served in various ministries and drew strength from his faith in Christ and fellowship with other believers.
We will remember him as a loving father, Granddaddy, brother, and friend to many. He believed that “A good name is to be chosen over riches…” (Proverbs 22:1). Wimberly Moorefield had a good name and was rich in the way that it mattered most. He will be dearly missed, loved, and always remembered.
Mr. Moorefield was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Moorefield McCune.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Strickland Moorefield, Chelsea, AL; four daughters, Suzanne Moorefield, Columbus, GA, Terrie Klemm, Jasper, GA, Tracy Brown and Jennifer Moorefield, both of Birmingham, AL; three siblings, Eleanor Carroll, Chapel Hill, NC, Richard Moorefield, Upatoi, GA, and Virginia Storey, Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren, Jaxson, Kade, Kateleigh, Gabe, Joseph, and Noah.
