Bill, I can't imagine you without Merle. You two showed us in college what a loving Christian couple and family looked like. Thank you for that witness. Merle and you were saints I wanted to model. What a blessing when you followed me from Milledgeville to Waycross! I want you to know 3 things you taught me that have been valuable throughout my life. 1 - be quiet and listen: you actually made me nervous sometimes and I began to chatter, but I practiced being quiet and listening throughout my life (Jesus did that, too!) 2- Its okay to be silly with kids: I still sing that silly little bunny foo foo song! I have been able to focus on kids and be silly in front of a congregation because you loved us enough to be silly with us. 3- Worship is about giving, not getting. You explained that to me in Walmart one time and I have lived by it. I worship in church, expecting little, worshipping my Lord. May God bless you and your family for generations because you and Merle were faithful humble servants. Praise God for your good works! With love, Julia

Bill and all the family, My thoughts and prayers are with you today and I will be watching the service and remembering my dear sister. She was 5 years older than me so she looked after Martha and me while we were growing up. The last visit there with her and Bill in Oct. 3018 was special. She was a great wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and loved God and others. I wish I could be there with you but COVID has changed our lives. God bless all of you. Mary

Dear Bill, and the whole family.Ann and I are delighted we will be able to see the service for Merle on line, and despite the fact we haven't seen each other for a very long time, it matters to us that Merle has died. After all, we were double first cousins, and there aren't many of those. Please know that we are grateful for the ministry you and she performed., most of yours in deep South Georgia and ours in North Georgia. Our first retirement was more than 25 years ago. We will prayerfully celebrate her life, along with y'all, tomorrow.God bless us all.(Cousin) Floyd
