Barbara East Osborn, 84, of Clayton, AL died peacefully while at Medical Center, Barbour County, AL on Thursday, April 13, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Reverend Dr. David Kees officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

Mrs. Osborn was born June 10, 1938 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Mercer East and Marjorie Dudley East. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church, Phenix City, AL. Ms. Barbara loved to fish, especially for bass, and was extremely good at this. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, but most of all raising children. Ms. Barbara helped to raise at least three generations of her family and was quick to help other families in need of assistance. We will remember her as a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Thank you for all of the love, discipline and advice you so freely gave to all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mercer and Marjorie East and husband of 57 years, Oscar Lee “Sonny” Osborn; three grandchildren, Marshal Starr Osborn, Crystal Marrie Osborn and Taylor Osborn.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Lee Osborn, Columbus, GA; five sons, Michael Osborn, Phenix City, AL, James “Jimmy” Osborn (Carol), Flint, MI, John Richard Osborn, Phenix City, AL, Glenn Osborn, Clayton, AL and Shane Osborn (Tiffany), Phenix City, AL; one sister, Janet Dobbs; fifteen grandchildren, Jeramie Whitehead (Carrie), Josh Whitehead, Stephanie Kinsley (Jeremy), Brandon Osborn, Jeffery  Osborn, Jr., Ryan Osborn, Alana Osborn, Todd Osborn, Jazmine Osborn, Steve Osborn, Marie Osborn, Addison Carter, Ashley Toledo, step-grandchildren, Mickey Wright and Amanda Rabion; ten great-grandchildren, Nathan (Tori), Taylor, Maggie, Brianne, Lanie, Blayne, Macie, Cameron, Kristion and Jesse; one great-great-grandchild, Baylor; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the Doctors, nurses and team at Barbour Medical Center for their superior care and compassion. A special thank you is also extended to Steve Whitehead for the sweet prayer he prayed with our family right before our sweet Memaw stepped into eternity.
