My last living blood relative uncle on my dads side died yesterday at a very ripe old age! Bennie Cole. My dad was very close to him and I grew up seeing him every Saturday night at my grandmothers house. I grew up watching Alabama football and great southern cooking with the men in one room and the women in the other. Cups of coffee and great stories. I will always remember my uncle Bennie for the hair combing he wanted me to do. He would sit in the rocking chair and I would comb his hair and then he would pay me a little bit of money. He was always quiet but funny and joking and kind. He and my other uncle owned a famous little barber shop at the end of fourth avenue. The Cole brothers. Many men hung out there but rarely a female. My dad loved to run down there and hang out with the men. He lived on airport road above the idle hour lake! I only wish I had spent more of my adult years with him. Time just marches on. I do remember going up there in the past few years praying over him and his life and health , and this was a blessing. Sherry Cole Valentini you had a wonderful daddy. Maxine cole my aunt I adore you and our family as well and Lacey Valentini and Trey Valentini. Son in law Alan Valentini. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a special man. The Cole men were honorable men! They lived through hard times growing up and overcome many obstacles. Bennie was a little blonde haired boy like my dad. And I understand his last day he called my dads name as if he saw him. Who knows. I believe he did. Right now I know they are rejoicing and laughing together. Thanks for the memories Bennie Cole. Rest easy. Your niece sandra michele Cole Evenson
