My condolences to the family and all who loved Mrs. Thornton. The seeming finality of death is what makes it especially difficult. But we can have confidence that God yearns to bring back to life the dead who are preserved in his memory. (Job 14:14,15) His Word, the Bible, gives us a wonderful hope of living in a paradise on earth and seeing the resurrection of our dead loved ones. (Luke 23:43; John 5:28,29) May this bring you some comfort during this difficult time.В

Mrs Thornton was Always,a ray of Sunshine on those cloudy days. She created EVERYONE with such enthusiasm and a smile that could Brighton any child's day. I had only known her 3 years but she welcomed Jamie and I into the SSSE FAMILY with arms Wide open. Between our ramblings on waiting for Jamie to come up and get signed out...with the intercom still on...lol.to margaritas and that crazy rug that I only noticed on the floor 1 YEAR LATER..LOL ! Well GOD chose a perfect LADY TO COME HOME .HER ARMS WERE ALWAYS OPEN HERE AND NOW WITH WINGS,SHE IS NOW TOTALLY FREE! GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY NOW AND ALWAYS. THRU TEARS WE SIGN OFF FOR NOW...JD AND JAMIE.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

To the family, my deepest sympathy. May Jehovah the God of love give you the needed strength to endure throughout this difficult time. I hope you can find comfort in the words at Revelation 21:4 "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”В

В MRS. THORNTON, I WILL MISS YOUR LAUGHTER AND THAT WONDERFUL SMILE YOU HAD. YOU ALWAYS MADE EVERYONE FEEL BETTER AFTER TALKING WITH YOU. OUR LIVES WILL NOT BE THE SAME WITH OUT YOU. IT IS A GREAT THING WHEN A PERSON'S NAME IS MENTIONED AND EVERYONE SMILES. YOU BROUGHT A SMILE TO ALL OUR FACES AT SCHOOL. YOU MAY BE GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.В

Mrs. Thornton was one of those rare people who radiate joy to everyone around her. She was full to overflowing with life! She never left a kind word unsaid, and I will miss her regular expressions of love and appreciation toward me. She always had fun when calling the library looking for students for check out: "Mrs. Norton, this is Mrs. Thornton," she would say, cracking us both up with the rhyme. Students would regularly confuse our names, calling me Mrs. Thornton. Their confusion was my honor.

Mrs. Thornton always made a special connection with each person she encountered and to me that was amazing to see. She was the person whose laugh, and smile were so infectious you could not help but love her. I can't count how many times I asked if she would just adopt me so I could be with her all the time and she would say "come on, I'll keep you!"В

Thank you for spreading the joy around SSSES, it will never be the same without you.

Mrs. Thornton was a ray of sunshine at South Smiths Station Elementary. She was the one person I could always go to for help with whatever I needed and always helped me with a smile. She believed in enjoying life and I’m sure she’s making the jokes in heaven right now. Heaven has gained a new angel and we have lost one. Love you.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I too have lost family members and know this can be one of the most difficult things to go through. I just wanted to leave you with a scripture that has helped me and let you know your family will be in my prayers. The scripture is Acts 24:15 and it talks about a hope of a resurrection when we could see our loved ones again.

Mrs. Thornton received me as a volunteer at SSSES for over 6 years.В  She was always so joyful and encouraging.В  Her bright smile has made my day as I was coming in or going out.В  She called me "beautiful" even though I realize she really appreciates people of all ages.В  (I have been retired for many years.)В  В We joked about her finding me a husband since I was widowed about 25 years ago.В  With a very heavy heart, I face knowing she won't be there to welcome me and send me on my way with a cheerful greeting or "have a great day."В  I love her and hope to see her again!В  В
