Charles Wayne Jenkins, Sr., 74, of Salem, AL passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Hospital due to Covid-19 Pneumonia.  A funeral service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Friday, January 15, 2021 beginning at 2:00 pm with Rev. Charles Graddick officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.

Wayne was born on March 15, 1946 in Columbus, GA to the late Edmond Horace Jenkins and Ethel Johns Jenkins Denson Nix. He was employed with Harvey Lumber Company where he worked as a supervisor, retiring after 35 years of dedicated and successful service. He was also a Reserved Deputy for the Russell County Sheriff’s Department and a member of the FOP Marcus Bruce Lee Lodge 14 in Phenix City. Wayne will always be remembered as a good man who went out of his way to help others. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, as well as those he attended church with at Philadelphia Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Other than his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Sandra Kay Jenkins.

Survivors include his son, Charles W. Jenkins, Jr. of Phenix City, AL; sister, Ann Jenkins of Columbus, GA; brothers, Horace Jenkins (Shirley) of Columbus, GA and Joe Denson (Suzan) of Midland, GA; grandchildren, Owen Neal Jenkins and Elijah Dylan Jenkins; special friend, Maryann Werner; daughter-in-law, Amanda Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.
