Cynthia “Cindy” M. Papenfuss, 65, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown. Funeral services will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Saturday, February 12, 2022 beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Dollar officiating. The interment will take place Monday, February 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, February 11, 2022 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In keeping with efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, facemasks and social distancing will be encouraged.

Cindy was born on November 19, 1956 in Fort Benning, GA to the late Rufus Maddox and Maurice Brooks Maddox. She was a dedicated homemaker who spent her life taking care of her family, whom she loved very much. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, sewing, canning and gardening. Cindy attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Smiths Station, AL, where she will be greatly missed. She was a remarkable woman and will always be remembered with the fondest of memories by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving and devoted spouse of 27 years Marcus J. Papenfuss; daughters Dawn Dollar of Columbus, GA and Melanie Franklin (Shawn Boeckh) of Phenix City, AL; stepson Marcus Blake Papenfuss (Megan) of Phenix City, AL; sister Dale Childrey of North Chesterfield, VA; brothers Jerry Maddox of Rome, GA and Steve Maddox, Sr. (Susan) of LaGrange, GA; grandchildren Ashley Smith (Jacob) and Brittney Franklin (Austin McDonald); step-grandchildren Madalynn Papenfuss and Millie Papenfuss; great-grandchildren Adalyn Smith, Justin Bennett Smith, Amelia Laschober and Alona McDonald. Other than her parents, Cindy is preceded in death by her son Kyle Dollar and sisters Patsy Ann Maddox and Gloria Sue Maddox.
