Debbie Brown

Debbie Brown, age 65, resident of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Monday, July 13, 2020, 2 p.m. with Reverend Ricky Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday, July 13, 2020 from 1-2 p.m.

Mrs. Brown, daughter of the late Willis Elton Nutt and Jean McKinney Nutt, was born September 11, 1954 in Columbus, Georgia. She was a retired Optician where she served families in the Columbus/Phenix City area for many years. Mrs. Brown was a dedicated Christian and active member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church. She loved her family immensely and loved animals, particularly her puppy Mollie. Mrs. Brown enjoyed cooking and working in her yard. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with both her family and friends. The family remembers her as a lady who never wanted focus on herself, rather wanted everyone to know Jesus.

Other than her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a brother, Darryl Nutt. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Danny Brown of Smiths Station, Alabama; daughter, Kelly Raquel Barnes and her husband Chris of Phenix City, Alabama; son, Derek Donahue Brown and his wife Elysa of Opelika, Alabama; brother, Dan Lamar Nutt of Columbus, Georgia; four grandchildren, Cody Bryan Barnes of Phenix City, Michael Christopher Brown of Opelika, Cameron Blake Barnes of Phenix City, and Kaitlyn Mackenzie Brown of Opelika; many other relatives and friends.
