Douglas A. Brown, 63, of Phenix City, AL passed away Tuesday morning, August 20, 2019 at Piedmont Regional Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm EDT on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Dr. Wayne Scaraborough officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm EDT, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home in Phenix City.
Mr. Brown was born August 29, 1955 in Columbus, GA son of the late Jesse O. Brown and Sara Brown. He retired from GFA Compressor as a Shop Manager with over 47 years of service. Mr. Brown enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar but above all he loved spending time with friends and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his spouse, Joy Brown of Phenix City, AL; one daughter, Ashley Smith and husband Wayne of Phenix City, AL; one son, Douglas A. Brown, II and wife Kelly of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Debra Griffin and husband Doug of Sanford, NC and Barbara Domke and husband Earl of Blaine, MN; one brother, Don Brown and wife Kathy of Salem, AL; five grandchildren, Spencer Carden, Dylan Smith, Caroline Brown, Lilly Ann Brown and Wayne Bozeman, III; several extended family and many caring friends.

Doug is the best friend anyone could have. I thank God to guide our paths to cross. He loved life & would rather see you catch more fish than him. He had a heart more precious & big as a box car of gold. He is one of the greatest person I’ve ever known. He enjoyed helping family & friends & never complained, he had a way of building you up. I never heard him say anything negative about anyone . He seen the good in people & never the bad. Doug was a person to look up to, he’s my Hero & the best friend anyone could imagine.
