I just saw the announcement and I am sorry for your loss. Mrs. Free was so nice to my family when I was a kid and visited the Phenix City Library. I remember when she retired.

A lovely, wise, Christian lady has gone home to be with the Lord and her soulmate, Carl! He and "miss Edna" were like second parents to me. 'Miss Edna' always had the gift to "discern'' the Truth and a simple tilt of her head let you know that maybe you should 'revise' your story! I always remember the fishing trips with us young 'uns and how patient she and Carl were . . . with lines getting tangled, fingers getting hooked! Carl's only rule while fishing on the wild Chattahoochee: "Never get between the river and a water moccassin!" Carl and Edna . . . Floyd and Frances made Fletcher Drive a beautiful place to grow up. Keep the faith! "Next year St. Thomas!!"
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
My dear neighbor, friend and second Mom has returned to her heavenly home greeted by Carl, and Joe and many, many others. Our sorrow is more than matched by their joy. Jubilant victory in Chrst! Death is the door to eternal life and everlasting joy. I learned so much about being b a follower of Jesus by the path Edna Morgan Free walked. Heaviness of heart.that we feel now will become purest happiness when we meet again on that blissful shore. My own mother and Edna will have many duets to sing and no more sorrow, pain or weariness will ever slow them down again.
I will always have such happy chilhood memories of our next door neighbors.for over 50 years! Ms.Edna always had a warm smile and a chuckle for the Worthy bunch who
played back and forth daily with Phil

Phil, Carla and Teena, I keep trying in vain to construct a message to convey how deeply I feel your love and loss at this time. Only the Holy Spirit can tell you how I feel. I know that Christ's victory over the grave is real and that we will greet and rejoice again in His presence and in the presence our mothers, fathers, family and friends. Your mother walked a Christian path and brought laughter and happiness to so many. She's my second mom. When we were little I guess we spent about as much time with one as the other! God heals the broken heart felt today.
My heart breaks with yours. The most kind Christian lady ever! Her sense of humor and joyful laughter will always be remembered. What a privilege to have grown up next door to her and your wonderful family. Sorry that I couldn't be there today.
Teena, Carla, Phil and Family:
Please accept my sympathies on the passing of your mom. The photo is a wonderful likeness of her during the time we all lived on Fletcher Drive. I have such fond memories of your mom in the kitchen while we baked cookies and the many times she drove us to church for various events. May the sadness you feel at this loss be lessened by knowing one day you will have a joyous reunion in Heaven. She was always a Southern Christian Lady!
My sincere condolences to the family during this time of loss. Even Jesus wept at the loss of a loved one. I have found comfort in the scriptural promise at Rev 21:3, 4 and I pray you will as well.

My Thoughts & Prayers are with the Family. Loved Mrs. Edna we sang in the choir together at First Baptist Church. Sweet, Loving Lady.
An A GARDEN PATH was ordered on May 10, 2017
So very sorry to read of the passing of your precious mother. I was fournate to have worked with her for a few months at The Phenix City/Russell County Public Library. She was a sweet lady. I know she will be missed.
To the family of "Gram", she was a precious Christian lady, who we instantly loved. My twin daughters loved her and she loved them. She always had a smile on her face and we could listen to her tell stories for hours. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Times flies so fast, I remember attending her 80th breakfast birthday, there was a crowd there. She was so happy to spend time with her family and friends. I know there is a great reunion in Heaven this week for her and her loved ones that have gone before her.
We are praying for comfort for the family during this time of loss. I pray that John 16:32-33, will be a comfort to you as it has been a comfort to us in our time of grief.
Ray, Teena and Morgan, we are so thankful that you shared her with us, and let her be a part of our lives too!
May God be especially near to you during this time.
Love and prayers,
Rocky, Pam, Alexandra and Andrews Whitmore
Our wonderful Edna has joined the other angels. She was such a blessing at First Baptist Church. She kept all our music and robes organized for the choir members. We all knew we could count on her for everything. After she moved we have missed her very much in our lives. Wishing her family God's comforting hands on each of your hearts.
The very one who needed you in the beginning, needed you most in the end….
You were there with your tender heart, your caring ways and your steadfast loyalty,
Doing the right thing, exactly the way she would have hoped, exactly the way she taught you to do. What a beautiful tribute to your Mother!
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I want to offer my condolences to the Free family and friends. It is a painful thing to lose a love one in death. Even Jesus wept when Lazarus died(John 11:35) and it pains our creator, too. Jesus stated at John 5:28, 29 that "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out" and he proved that it will happen by resurrecting Lazarus. Our creator promise that all suffering, including death will be taken away forever. Notice how it is stated at Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” I hope these promises from our Creator give all of you comfort.
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family's loss.
