









Elizabeth “Irene” Six Smith Cockefair, 95, of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Kindred Hospice in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm EDT Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home (Vance Memorial Chapel) in Phenix City with Rev. Marvin Minton officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery at 3:30 pm EDT. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at Vance in Phenix City.
Mrs. Cockefair was born February 21, 1923 in Rural Retreat, VA to the late Alexander Lee Six and Ruby Willard Six. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whom was deeply devoted to her family. She loved all her family and cherished spending quality time with all her grandchildren. She had a gift as being a seamstress and took great pride in her craft. She loved dancing, working crossword puzzles, and canvas painting. She was a member Crawford Road Baptist Church in Phenix City. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Daniel Smith, Sr., son, James “Danny” Smith, Jr., daughter, Phyllis Anne Hiers, three brothers, James Six, Roy Six, and, Sherman D. Six, and one sister, Lillian Louise Mabe.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Wood Cockefair, of Phenix City, AL, son-in-law, Duane Hiers of Eufaula, AL, step-son, Earl Cockefair and wife Daniel of Valdosta, GA; (14) grandchildren, (40) great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren, a host of numerous other loving family members, and many caring friends.
