Elizabeth “Liz” Blackwell Cornett, 81, of Phenix City, AL passed away late Sunday evening on March 19, 2023 at the Arabella Health Care in Phenix City, AL
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon EST on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City with Rev. Mike Turner officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon EST prior to the graveside service at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City.
Mrs. Cornett was born November 29, 1941 in Andalusia, AL, daughter of the late Carlis Hampton Blackwell and Delia Elvira Harrelson Blackwell. She was employed as a supervisor with Fieldcrest Mills retiring after 30 plus years of loyal service. She was a lady of great character whose life was fulfilled by her love for her family. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and sharing memories and spending precious moments with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a Christian by faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all her sibling’s, Lois Blackwell, Juanita Blackwell, Blake Blackwell, Merle Blackwell, Pauline Blackwell, Ernestine Blackwell, Donald Blackwell, and Charles Blackwell.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, William “Hayne” Cornett of Phenix City, AL, her son, Chris Cornett and wife Elaine of Phenix City, AL, two grandchildren, Kristen Cornett Cail and husband Bryan, and Christopher Cornett and wife Peyton, all of Phenix City, AL, and three precious great grandchildren, Ansley Hutto, Kinsley Cail, and Cooper Cornett, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
