George Wilton “Hootsie” Nason, 91, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 15, 2021 with his family by his side.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM (EST) on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Central Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Dexter James and Rev. Ritchie Ashburn officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Nason was born February 23, 1930 in Greer, SC to the late Albert Dewey Nason, Sr. and Ruby Mae Norris Nason. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Pamelia “Pam” Dailey Nason. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Nason retired from civil service at Ft. Benning, GA after serving 36 years. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church where he had been a member since 1955. Mr. Nason served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, choir member and Facilitator for the “Young at Heart” senior adult group. He was also active in the Russell Baptist Association.
Survivors include his three children, Beth Nason Quick (Jason) of Winchester, TN, Ryan Shelby Nason (Nina), Warner Robins, GA, and Lauren Nason Driggers (Shaun) of Alligator Point, FL; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madison, and Camden Quick; two step-grandchildren, Noah and Nate Herrera; many nieces, nephews, extended family and caring friends.
