James Randall “Randy” Hester, Sr., 70, of Columbus, died Friday, January 22, 2021 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 PM Thursday January 28, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road Columbus, GA with Bettie Haynes officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. A private burial will be held Friday at Parkhill Cemetery.
Randy was born September 24, 1950 in Jacksonville, FL to the late James L. Hester and Catherine Dowling Hester. He started his company, Hester Appliance, in 1974 and co-owned it along with his son Tim Hester. Mr. Hester was a member of the Columbian Masonic Lodge #7. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Nix Hester, his parents, and a daughter, Catherine Michelle Lenz.
Survivors include his sons, Tim Hester (Tina) of Phenix City, AL and Randy Hester, Jr. (Michelle) of Columbus, GA, sister, Angela Williams (Joe) of Cusseta, GA, son-in-law, Robert Lenz, grandchildren, Robert Lenz, Jr., Timmy Lenz, Brittney Blanks, Justin Lenz, Tim Hester, Jr., Holly Kilburn, Catherine Hester, Randall Hester, III, Stephanie Hester, Jennifer Hester, Shane Hester, and Hunter Hester, and sixteen great grandchildren.

I didn't know Randy that well but from listening to those who did he was a much loved person who would do anything for anyone. He especially loved to do something for people who didn't know he had done it like paying for their meals or just giving money to someone who needed a few dollars.
