James Steven Vann, Jr., 50, of Phenix City, AL was called to Heaven on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
A private Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.
Steve was born June 18, 1973 in Phenix City, AL son of the Rev. James Steven Vann, Sr. and Sherry Wofford Vann. He had worked for AT&T for over 30 years as a technician. One of the areas he was responsible for was the 911 building in Columbus, GA. He was a member of the Rock Baptist Church which is now called Church in the County. He had a heart of gold and was always giving generously to others. Steve led his life in a manner that put others first, thus following Christ example of putting others first. While his departure was not expected, we take great comfort in knowing we will see him again one day in Heaven.
Steve was preceded in death by is maternal grandparents, Claude and Zola Wofford; his paternal grandparents, Dalton and Grace Rhodes Vann; aunt, Jo Ellen Cathy Vann; and an uncle, Larry Wofford.
Survivors other than his parents, Rev. Steve and Sherry Vann, Phenix City, AL, include his four children, Taylor Vann, Cee Jay Vann, Max Vann, and Nathan Vann; two siblings, Sandra Vann Tribby (Matt), S.C. and Stacy Vann (Danielle), Midland, GA; one aunt, Sue Wofford; nieces and nephews, Kaitlin, Carson, Cameron and Elliott; several other family members and friends.

There are no words to describe the pain and void we are left with after the passing of our dear friend, son, and dad. Steve was the most kind hearted person I have ever known. Mr. And Mrs. Vann, you should be very proud of the fine gentleman you raised. He admired and loved his parents very much. As for his four beautiful children, there was nothing he valued more than being a dad to the four of you and was super proud of each one of you. Steve, I miss you so much already that my heart physically hurts. You was taken from our arms and hearts way too soon. Just here recently you told me if I could just promise to tell you bedtime stories because the sound of my voice was calming for you that you would always be happy. So I promise you a bedtime story each night until we see each other again in Heaven. Please wait for me at the Pearl of Gates and until then I will miss you everyday.

So sorry to hear about Steve. I didn't know him but about 2 months he helped me move and set up my tv for me. All I can say is he had a very big heart and would help anyone who needed help. We had several great talks about the word of God and he was greatfull to his parents for raising him the way they did by knowing God.

I worked with Steve for many years at BellSouth & ATT. We started as Long Distance Operators. He was such a nice guy. My sincere condolences for your family’s loss.

I knew Steve from AT&T. He was smart funny and would help you with anything. So sorry to hear he’s passed away.

I am so sorry for the loss you have suffered. I worked with Steve at AT&T for many years, he was so very smart and always kind and gentle. God knew he needed to come home even though we didn’t want him to go. I know he is safe and happy-Steve will be missed by many of his co workers-REST IN PEACE STEVE

My absolute best friend growing up. I am so saddened to hear this. Steve and I use to wrestle on his trampoline, ride bikes, lift weights and talk about life. He was the best friend that everybody needed in their life.
