Jimmy Lee Pemberton, 80, of Cataula, GA passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Monday, February 21, 2022 beginning at 11:00 AM with Timothy Pemberton and Bill Pemberton officiating. The interment will conclude at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
Jimmy was born on August 15, 1941 in Jasper, TN to the late Asburl Pemberton and Mary Helen Moore Pemberton. He was an extraordinary man with a multitude of talents and a very giving heart. Jimmy’s career was that of a Mechanical Engineer, being employed by Ring’s Forklift. His ministry, however, was the position he found most fulfilling, the privilege of pastoring Philadelphia Independent Baptist Church in Columbus, GA. For 45 years Jimmy was a caring and dedicated shepherd for his congregation.
In his spare time Jimmy enjoyed gardening, fishing and working on cars. Family was very important and precious to him. Jimmy was a loving and devoted patriarch for those he held closest to his heart. He has left a legacy for others to follow and lived a life that made his Heavenly Father smile.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 62 years Savannah Skyles Pemberton; daughters Sybil Leshowitz (Danny) of West Columbia, SC and Karen Huber (Jeff) of Cataula, GA; son Timothy Pemberton (Joy) of LaGrange, GA; sister Holly Dee Belk of Cleveland, TN; brother Bill Pemberton (Dorothy) of LaGrange, GA; grandchildren Kevin Leshowitz, Christy Leshowitz, Shawn Huber, Logan Huber, Savannah Pemberton, Benjamin Pemberton, Mollie Pemberton and Charles Pemberton; and great-grandchild Gabriella Witta. Jimmy is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by three sisters and eight brothers.
