Especially for Mike: enjoyed visits with Joan at her house picking up a cake, standing in the yard, or sitting on Moms porch. She was a very sweet lady who loved working at her church and writing the church history. Never forgotten!!

I thank God for bringing you into my life. Your guidance and direction helped mold me into the person I am today... and for this I will be forever grateful. I will miss your smile and those beautiful eyes. Yet, you and the values you taught me will live on through me. I have truly been blessed in this life... and, you are one of those blessings. I love you!

My first memories of Granny Joan was on a front porch of a ~1975 hi-way 80 Phenix City Church Sunday morning when I was 6-7 years old rolling down the steps with my brother. Granny was dressed up and fancy (always); Granny Joan with her Mother, told Stephen and I to “get off of those steps, and brush off, be nice for church. “ She smiled like a movie star! I knew Granny Joan throughout my youth via her church visits as my family and Bridget’s family were close in church, regularly sitting together or during the years our fathers traveled to churches, quartet singing and preaching when Granny visited. Granny and Pop became dear dear personal friends to Bridget and I when we took a break from the Army in 94 and moved home to attend college at CSU. Granny let us rent her 1st Ave property for 3 years and during that time we took many fishing and camping trips together. So so many evenings together with something on the grill and laughter at the house ( my favorite was when Jessica would try to out talk Granny at 3yr old - not happening). Granny Joan has been my family for 29 years but truly I can push that time back to 45 years. Love you Granny!
