SFC (Ret) John Paul Burton, 69, of Columbus, GA died peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
Graveside Services with U. S. Army Honors will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
SFC (Ret) Burton was born July 13, 1953 in Morehead, KY son of the late John Melvin Burton. He had retried from the U. S. Army after 20 years of honorable service to our country. After retiring from the U. S. Army he went to work at Ft. Benning in the Food Services for 22 years. He was known by family and friends as “Mr. B” or “Pops” and was always helping others. We will remember him as a loving son, husband, brother, father and friend. He was also a great provider no matter what was going on.
Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his father, John M. Burton; Grandmother Iva Burton who raised him; his wife, Linda Lou Burton.
Survivors include his four children, Richard Burton, Julie Cruz (Lewis), Michael Burton (Leticia “Trish”) and Elizabeth Rodriguez (Miguel); eight siblings, Clyde, Janet, Rose, John Wesley, Floyd, Eddie, Woody and Richard; ten grandchildren, Ronnie, Jacob, Javier, Eddie, John, Sabina, Sofia, Sarah, Elijah and Marcos; one great-grandchild, Jake; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
