Johnnie Clyde Kelly, Sr., 76, of Smiths Station, AL passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, December 21, 2020.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, December 28, 2020 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Norman Garrison officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 till 4:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Kelly was born February 03, 1944 in Dothan, AL son of the late Charlie T. Kelly and Anna Doris Lambert Kelly. He was a 1962 graduate of Smiths Station High where he played football and baseball. Mr. Kelly had retired from Fieldcrest Mills where he was known as “Johnnie Kool” working up from Loom Operator to Fixer to Supervisor. He loved to fish, work crossword puzzles, and play solitaire. Mr. Kelly attended Philadelphia Baptist Church and was an avid Braves, Falcons and Alabama football fan. We will remember him as a dedicated Son, Brother, Daddy, Uncle, Papa “Pops” and Companion. His special memories will forever be cherished in our hearts.
Survivors include his companion of 33 years Dorothy “Dot” Rogers, Smiths Station, AL; children, Lisa Nicole “Niki” Palmer (Paul), Marietta,GA, Misty Michelle “Shelly” Blake (John), Jacksonville, FL and Johnnie “John” Kelly, Jr. (Kelley), Smiths Station, AL; sisters, Connie Joyce Gilliam (Lonnie), Nina Sue Medley, Tommie Dale McCraine (Larry) and Shelia Mote; step-children, Tammy Canida, Vera Dawn Stinson (Dale), Kimela Canida and John C. Canida, Jr, (Jan); fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; cat, “Buddy Boy”; several nieces, nephews and close friends.
