Judy Carol Barnett Carter, 69, of Phenix City, AL died at Piedmont Northside Hospital in Columbus, GA, on Saturday, July 10, 2021 with her husband by her side.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Lakewood Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL with Rev. M. R. Hamilton officiating. A committal service will be held at Smiths Station Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. David Kees officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 6:00 till 8:00 PM (EST) at the funeral home and one hour prior the service at the church on Friday.
Mrs. Carter was born September 25, 1951, in East Ridge, TN daughter of the late Richard E. Barnett and Joyce Evelyn Holland Barnett. She had retired from Synovus as a Residential Loan Officer. Mrs. Judy saw her job as an opportunity to assist families in making wise decisions regarding purchasing a home. She was a former member of Smiths Station Baptist Church and was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church. Mrs. Judy loved music often playing the piano, singing in the AMEN Choir and the Sanctuary Choir. She was also active in Sunday School and other ministries.
We will remember her love of crafting, often making crafts for family and friends. She was honest, straight forward and to the point. Mrs. Judy was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother who will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ricky Barnett and her daughter, Jennifer Carter Sullivan.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Rex. W. Carter, Phenix City, AL; son, Christopher Mikell Carter (Michelle), Butler, GA; sister, April Emen, Melbourne, FL; five grandchildren, Gavin and Cameron Carter, Ansley, Carter and Emma Kate Sullivan; beloved dog, “Delta”; numerous other family members and friends.
