Loretta Deane Wood, age 75 of Phenix City, AL passed away Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon EST on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Lynn McManious officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Phenix City.
Mrs. Wood was born June 3, 1947, in Abbeville, AL to the late Maxie McCall and Willow Dean McCall. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family and her husband. She enjoyed quiet times, just sitting in her rocking chair cherishing special thoughts. She was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church in Phenix City.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Gene Wood, Jr.; two brothers, Michael McCall and Keith McCall; and an infant sister, Sharon McCall.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 57 years, Larry Jean Wood, Sr. of Phenix City, AL; one daughter, Sharon Northington of Phenix City, AL; five grandchildren, Scottie Richardson, Jessica Northington, Kali Northington, Dakota Wood, and Brianna Wood; two precious great grandchildren, Raelynn and Nash; sister-in-law, Vicki Riley; and two brothers-in-law, John Robert Wood, and Bruce Wood and numerous other extended loving family members, church family, and many caring friends.
