Margaret Dian Prestridge, 77, of Salem, AL passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 at her home.

Margaret was born August 23, 1942 in LaGrange, GA, daughter of the late Troyce Rice and Margaret Crowe Rice. She retired after 30 years of service for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and traveling the world. She taught English to Spanish speaking residents in Tucker, GA and took dance and art classes. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bud Rice.

She is survived by her daughter, Georgeann Richards and husband Brian of Salem, AL, sons, William Thomas Prestridge of Salem, AL and Johnny Franklin Prestridge of LaGrange, GA; sister, Joyce Moore and husband Hiram of Fairhope, AL; grandchildren, Taylor Holland and husband Jon of Cataula, GA, Stacey Coffman and husband Michael of Moses Lake, WA, and Betsy Snowden and husband Phillip of Alabaster, AL; great grandchildren, Russ Holland, Raul Coffman, Taylor Coffman, Roman Coffman, Connor Snowden, Maddison Snowden, and Camden Snowden; Special friends GeorgeAnn Allen and Jerrie Clark; and her beloved pet dog, Cisco.

A remembrance and celebration of life will be held privately by her loving family and announced at a later date. Margaret will always be cherished, loved and her memories never forgotten.

From a first cousin (Lester's son) who had corresponded by email occasionally. I mourn with you. I don't remember when or if I met Dian in person, if so I was very young. I remember Uncle Troyce stopping at our house when he was nearby in his truck driving days. Bud and his wife attended my wedding in California in 1979. God bless and keep you all.

Such a generous, thoughtful and obliging person, her hospitality was boundless. She reached out to me, a total stranger to the USA, to Atlanta and to CDC, and offered me daily rides to and from work, introduced me to bowling (at which I sucked but had great fun), and shared her friends with me. My life in Atlanta was richer for having known Dian. Although we have been miles apart, she was and will continue to be always in my heart. May she rest in everlasting peace and may all the wonderful memories comfort her family, and friends in this time of grief.В
