Mary “Carolyn” Lowery Caraway, 77, of Pittsview, AL passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Pittsview while surrounded by her loving family.
Ms. Caraway was born January 6, 1946, in Atmore, AL, daughter of the late Horace Lowery and Sally Pauline Jordan. She had worked as a seamstress for many years with Ranger Joe’s in Columbus, GA. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, fishing, eating seafood and fellowship with family and friends. She was a Baptist by faith.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband and best friend, James Melvin Chavers; sister, Faye Byrd; brother, Hardy Lowery, and two grandsons, Ronald Terry and Daniel Terry.
She is survived by three daughters, Marie Faulk, Diane Bullock, and Linda Long and husband Thurston; four sisters, Margie Cooper, Darlene Ammons, JoAnne Johnson and husband Darrell and Beverly Hamilton; brother, Auston Lowery and wife Johana; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended loving family members.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm CST, 1:00 PM EST, Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Seale Baptist Church in Seale, AL with Rev. Gary Fuller officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City. A private burial is to take place at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends after the memorial service on Saturday at the church in Seale.
