Mary Frances Lindsey Chambers, 95, of Phenix City, AL died at Columbus Hospice House Thursday, January 23, 2020 surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 27, 2020 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Sammy Turner officiating. Pallbearers will be Mac McDonald, Jerry Head, Tyler Flemons, Terry Chambers, Gene Bragg. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Chicken Foot Gang, Sandy McDonald, Bill Tolbert and Homer Parson. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 till 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Chambers was born May 01, 1924 in Chambers County, AL to the late Arthur Lindsey and Nellie Erin Moss Lindsey. She was a seamstress with Schobilt for many years and was an active member of Golden Acres Baptist Church. Mrs. Chambers loved playing Dominos with her friends in the Chicken Foot Gang every Tuesday. Her memories, wisdom and humor will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts.
Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her husbands, James F. Godfrey and Robert Lee Chambers, a son, James Ray Godfrey and a sister, Rosie Mae Brumbeloe.
Survivors include her son, Charles L. Godfrey, Columbus, GA, step-son, Terry Chambers (Debra), Phenix City, AL; granddaughter, Donna Godfrey Phillips (Billy), FL; three great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; special friends, Senoi Godfrey and Ashleigh Aguilar; numerous other extended family and friends also survive.
