Dear Sherry and family, I just learned of Mike's death today by Facebook.В  Today is September 16, 2019.В  I want you to know Mike was my very best, most important high school friend, and a permanent part of who I am today.В  I was a month older than he.В  He attended Bradwell Institute in 9th and 10th as I recall, where I graduated in 1965.В  Mike taught me tennis. We both drove our Dad's '63 Chevy's, and compared tales of our exploits in them.В  We figured out the world together and tried to figure out girls together.В  When his parents moved to Virginia, it was heart-breaking.В  But we kept up long philosopical letters for a few years until college moved us along.В  He pursued medicine, and I pursued psychology.В  I found Mike via Facebook just a few years ago, and we were able to renew our long-lapsed friendship by email.В  His crackling wit and zest for life were still a great pleasure and quite a grace-gift after so long an absence of contact.В  I join with you in grieving from my home in McDonough, Georgia, and in the certainty of his safe haven in the presence of our Lord until we are reunited in perpetual joy.В  God Bless you all.В

My condolences to the Lake family and friends. It is a painful thing to lose a precious love one in death. Even Jesus wept when Lazarus died (John 11:35) and it pains Our Heavenly Father. He did not purpose his human family to get sick and die but purposed us to live and enjoy life in perfect health. It is still his purpose (Psalm 37:11, 29). He calls death an enemy that will be removed forever__1 Corinthians 15:26 “the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing”; Sickness will be a thing of the past_ Isaiah 33:24 ”and no resident will say, “I am sick”; and He promise to awaken our love ones in the memorial tombs from asleep in death__ Isaiah 26:19 “Your dead will rise ...Awake and shout joyfully you residents in the dust! ...the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." What a delight it will be to see them again! Allow these words to keep comforting all of you.

I was a patient of Dr. Lake for too many years to remember.В  I always enjoyed him when I went for my regular checkups.В  He was always pleasant and inevitably there would be some joke or antidote to make us both feel at ease.В  I will miss his kindness and good humor.В  I hope his family knows that all who had the occasion to meet him will never forget this kind man!

Our family would like to extend our condolences to the family of Dr. Michael Lake. You might be struggling to remain upright right now because the loss is very recent, and moving forward without him is hard to comprehend, and that is okay. Give yourself the time and space to embrace those feelings. On a personal note, Dr. Lake was a respected colleague of my husband Dr. Emory Alexander. Dr. Lake performed a corrective procedure on our son 20 years ago, and more recently a cousin, both are doing well in large part because of the skill and compassion Dr. Lake displayed. Our practices were across the hall from each other in the 1900 building for many years. Emory and Mike had an opportunity to play tennis together , and I'm told that Mike was very good! Once we closed the practice, our former office manager accepted a position at Rice & Lake Urology, so our lives have intersected on several levels for many years. We are praying for your family. May God comfort and keep your family as you remember a life well - lived.
Always,
Emory & Alicia Alexander

I will miss Dr. Lake. Not only was he my Doctor, but a friend. He was always willing to listen and took the time to talk and give advise. Not just medical but personal and spiritual. He loved his patients as much as we loved him. I know he is in heaven with his beloved Wieny dog and fishing with my husband. I'm so sorry God took him so soon. May God give his family comfort in this time of grief. With much Love and sadness.
