Carl E. Cantrell, 71 of Phenix City, AL passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm EST on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm EST, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mr. Cantrell was born August 29, 1951 in Hodgenville, KY, son of the late Rolva Newton Cantrell and Bessie West Cantrell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, Mr. Cantrell worked for Civil Service on Ft. Benning, until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, gardening, as well as studying history. It was his dream to build his own wooden boat but he only got as far as building a model.
He is survived by his loving wife Gaynelle Wilson Cantrell; six children, fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister and many extended family and friends.
