Marvin B. Elkins, 77 of Columbus, GA passed away early Sunday morning, February 12, 2023 at Orchard View Skilled Nursing Center in Columbus, GA
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EST Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Bill Mayhew officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home in Phenix City. Serving as pallbearers are Charles Wynn, Lamar Wynn, Johnny Elkins, Tommy Graf, Jeremy Cumming, and Mark Cameron.
Mr. Elkins was born May 16, 1945 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Johnny Elkins and Doris Wynn Lewis. He served as a construction foreman for Sides Dry Wall for many years engaging in numerous projects for the surrounding community. He took great pride in having the ability to use his two hands for skill. He cherished the outdoors and nature and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Mr. Elkins loved woodworking and in his younger years enjoyed racing boats. He was a Baptist by faith.
Other than his parents, Mr. Elkins is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Glenda “Gayle” Parker Elkins, a son, Ricky Elkins and a brother, Pete Elkins.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Elkins McCall of Phenix City, AL, son, Brian Elkins and wife Summer of Midland, GA, four grandchildren, Jace Elkins, Zella Elkins, Megan Briggs and husband Josh, and Joshua McCall and wife Brianna, four precious great grandchildren, Addison, Tristian, Joshua, and Colson, several nieces and nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
