Mr. Wayne Taft, 71, of Salem, AL, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022 at his home on Lake Harding.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Monday, July 11, 2022 at the city cemetery in Waverly Hall, GA with Rev. Don Wilhite officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL.
Mr. Taft was born January 25, 1951 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Carey M. Taft and Anne Smith Taft. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Taft owned several businesses throughout his career, including Wayne’s Garage, Crystal Valley Auto Parts and Service, Wayne Taft “WT” Construction and finally Valley Sand and Gravel. He was a good cook that enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Mr. Taft enjoyed attending farm equipment auctions and working on the farm in Waverly Hall, GA. His passions included car shows, working on his antique cars and spending time with his family. Mr. Taft attended Golden Acres Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Taft and Benny Taft.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandi Taft of Nashville, TN ; a son, Jason Taft and wife Mandy of Columbus, GA; a long time companion Debbie Clifton of Valley, AL; three brothers, Kenny Taft and wife Suzanne of Waverly Hall, GA, Charley Taft and wife Susie of Waverly Hall, GA and Melvin Taft of Dudley, NC; grandchildren, Corey Taft, Shelby Taft, Matthew Batastini and Cole Batastini; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
