Edna Munday Elrod, 83, Phenix City, AL, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11:00 am. Following the service, she will be laid to rest with her love, Charles H. Elrod, Sr.
Mrs. Elrod was born October 24, 1937 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Floyd Munday and Bessie Cook Munday.
She spent much of her life as a caregiver, both to members of her family and as means of employment. Her personal interests were a bit of a paradox. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing and also being on the lake, boating and camping. She was an avid fan of Hallmark and Westerns. She mastered the domestic art and loved to bake and cook to feed those she loved, while almost equally as passionate about feeding the slots in Shorter or Biloxi. Few things brought a sparkle to her eyes as did her many memories of the Sizzling Sevens, 777. She was thoughtful and also very spontaneous, enjoying traveling and an impromptu road trip until later years when she treasured being home with her companion dog, Baby. Her sense of humor was ageless and her 83 years were full, yet too short.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two loves in life, Fred Coppedge and Charles H. Elrod, Sr. Also, preceding her in death was her infant son, Michael, her brothers Allen, Elmer, Wayne, and sisters Myrtice, Betty, Rebecca (Becky), many other extended family and dear friends.
Mrs. Elrod is survived by a daughter, Nancy Gail Marin (Don) of Ashville, NC; granddaughter, Joy Hammock (Dustin) of Phenix City, AL, Lawrence Marin II (Tauni) of Fayetteville, NC and Christopher Marin (Stephanie) of Tracy, CA; great-grandchildren, Ansley Ingram, Drake Hammock and Miller Hammock of Phenix City; a sister, Katherine McCaw and niece Manky Jeffers (Scott) of Loxley, AL; special friend Betty Wall of Phenix City, and her beloved companion dog Baby.
