Glenda Kelley Mitchell, 80, of Phenix City, Alabama, left this world, to be welcomed into the arms of Jesus, on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital, while surrounded by her loving family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm EST on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Highway 431 North Phenix City, AL, with Rev. Alan Griffith and Rev. Jonathan Pike officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 pm at the funeral home.

Ms. Mitchell was born in Alexander City, Alabama, the daughter of the late Henry James Kelley and Eulalia Clark Kelley. She retired from the Russell County Department of Human Resources, where she worked as a secretary. Ms. Mitchell was a co-owner, along with her late husband of the original JR’s Steakhouse. Until her health declined, she faithfully attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Phenix City where she was the pianist and organist. She taught music and enjoyed all aspects of music. She was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan and rarely missed an Atlanta Braves Baseball game either in person or on TV. She also enjoyed watching western movies, fishing and gardening. Above all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her grandkids.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy R. Mitchell and one brother Larry Kelley.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son Nathan Anthony “Tony” Smith (Pam) of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren Brittany Mangum (Justin) of Phenix City, AL, Nikki Harrell (Robert) of Phenix City, AL, Eliza Richardson of Phenix City, AL; great grandchildren Victoria Harrell, Isabella Harrell, Gabriella Harrell, Nathanael Mangum, Emma Grace Mangum and Jeremiah Mangum.
